Green Giraffe on a new continent!

Press release, 28 June 2016

Neoen Australia has secured a long-term debt financing package for the 32-turbine, 100 MW second stage of the Hornsdale wind farm which altogether with the first and third stages will comprise 105 Siemens turbines. The multi-staged project, majority owned and managed by Neoen, is located near the South Australian town of Jamestown, 200km north of Adelaide. John Laing holds a minority interest in the project.

Green Giraffe acted as financial advisor to the project in the run up to the closing.

Key features:

  • Neoen has developed the project with local partner Megawatt and majority owns it alongside John Laing
  • Siemens is building the wind farm, supplying the 32 turbines and providing long-term operations and maintenance of the project
  • Hornsdale wind farm stage 2 (like phase 1) is financed by international banks KFW IPEX-Bank GmbH and Societe Generale, with Investec providing a mezzanine loan
  • This phase is underpinned by a 20-year power purchase agreement with the ACT grid operator at 77 AUD/MWh
