Green Giraffe supported Aker Horizons in the acquisition of 75% of Mainstream Renewable Power
On 19 January 2021, Aker Horizons announced it had reached an agreement to acquire a 75% stake in the international renewable energy development platform Mainstream Renewable Power.
Based in Ireland and founded in 2008, global renewable developer and IPP Mainstream has a major market presence in Chile, South Africa and Vietnam, as well as assets in development in other countries including the Philippines, Australia and Colombia, and an enviable track record in UK offshore wind development.
The company and its 11 GW project pripeline, including 1.4 GW under construction or in operation, have been valued at an upfront equity value of EUR 900 M. The agreement includes up to a further EUR 100 M of potential payments linked to earnouts and will see Aker Horizons acquire 50% of the Supernode superconducting business.
