Kumar&Associates (K&A) started the development of a 40 MWp solar project in 2014. The Ministry of Energy rewarded the project with an Expression of Interest which gives the developer an exclusive right to develop the project and to obtain a feed-in tariff of USD 12 ct/kWh once all permits and contracts are obtained.
Green Giraffe, together with the technical consortium partner Ecofys, supported K&A in the development of the project. A first milestone was achieved early 2016 by winning a public tender which secured the land rights for the project. The project consortium has worked on the feasibility study consisting of an environmental and social impact assessment, a grid connection study, system design and financial analysis.
In 2017, the project was stopped despite having secured exclusive land rights and presenting excellent solar irradiation as it was finally not granted a PPA.
